LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS SWIMSUIT FOR A MINUTE OMG!!!! This is from the amazing babes over at rue107.com and it is the watermelon pattern my heart has been waiting for. Admittedly I should’ve gone with a different style top because… whoa melons. But I have a white strapless bikini top that I will likely style it with this summer that I’m sure is going to look awesome. Rue107 also makes an amazing ice cream printed bikini that I’ve vowed to own by summer’s end.
Ok, I don’t generally make it a habit to wear two swim suits in one day but the title of the post is “Summer JUMPOFF” and not “summer stand around in one swimsuit” I’M TRYING TO GIVE YOU OPTIONS HERE! This tropical print bikini is from forever21+ and it’s not something I would normally pick out for myself but like a moth to a flame, swimsuits find their way into my dresser without much effort. I’m really glad I got it cause I’m pretty into it, although I do get a weird kind of wedgie in this suit that I have never got in any other bathing suit before. Odd.
The real standout with this bathing suit is the body chain by Ready To Stare. There are a couple reasons why I’m obsessed with this little baby. The first being that it is just beautiful. It’s heavy and doesn’t feel like it’s going to break, and it comes in sizes S-5X so there’s one for every body. The second and most important thing I love about this chain is that it is an easy way to get me out of my comfort zone without too much commitment. I don’t frequently wear accessories and I don’t often do things that would be considered “glam”. But I want to! I want to so bad!!! The body chain can be added to any of my outfits to make them just a bit more edgy. I was wearing a maxi dress and tank top the other day and threw it on and I went from soccer mom to fashion blogger in less than 5 seconds. It was amazing.
More importantly than what I was wearing, I really want to give myself a pat on the back for how comfortable I have become in my body in front of strangers. There were a bunch of college aged people at the pool and it didn’t stop me from striking a pose for even a moment. I got a few stares, but of course I did… I was posing on a fountain with a body chain on while my partner/camera man laid on the cement trying to get a good shot. A very big part of me thinks that part of saying “fuck it” comes with aging, but I see so many amazing young people adapting the principles of body positivity and doing things I never dreamed of when I was their age. I’m so proud of them. I’m so proud of me. I’m so proud of all of us!
