Never heard of a capsule wardrobe? Maybe you’ve just never seen a plus size capsule wardrobe? You’re in for a treat! For the next 30 days we’ll be posting a new outfit from this plus size wardrobe with alternatives to each piece in extended sizes, different color options, and varying prices. Read on for a crash course in building the easiest, most practical wardrobe ever!

What is a capsule wardrobe?

A capsule wardrobe consists of a limited number of highly wearable and versatile pieces. For our 2020 Spring plus size capsule wardrobe we decided to go with around 20 clothing items and 10 accessories, including shoes, hair accessories, and bags. The goal is to style all of the pieces you choose in differing ways for a set amount of time to help reduce anxiety around what to wear. It’s also a great way to challenge yourself to be more resourceful with the items you have, instead of over-consuming items that aren’t useful.

Plus Size Clothing Items

I wanted to put this plus size capsule wardrobe together because I just haven’t found one that fits my style yet. I want my wardrobe, no matter how paired down, to reflect who I am. A little bit 90’s rock and roll, a little bit prarie princess, and a lot practical. You can modify all of these pieces to suit your own style with the suggestions from our Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe Checklist. Click on the pieces below to shop them!

Shoes

Admittedly, shoes are where my practical nature comes in to play. I never own more than about 5 pairs. If you’re an absolute shoe-lover you can of course add more pairs to your plus size capsule wardrobe! Click the images below to shop the ones I chose for mine!

Versatile Accessories

Each accessory in a capsule wardrobe needs to be that “little something” that outfits could be missing. With a bandana you can wear it around your neck, your wrist, your head – it’s completely versatile. Think about your accessories and the different ways you could wear each of them! Are you ready to see what we come up with? For the next 30 days we’ll be taking each piece and mixing it up with coordinating (and sometimes clashing!) items. Workwear, daytime looks, date nights – we’ll be covering all the outfit bases! You can follow along with the 30 days of outfits here, or sign up for our newsletter below.

I’m dying for that leopard print dress but when you click on the picture, it doesn’t direct you to a website. None of the pictures do. Help!
