So you're fat and pregnant! Congratulations! You've now reached the 3rd level of plus size clothes shopping hell that is reserved for those of us who dare to ever think that maybe we could have an adorable plus size pregnancy filled with equally adorable plus size maternity clothing! Achievement unlocked!

While researching places to shop for plus size maternity the overwhelming response was "just buy things bigger, and plan on feeling totally left out of the preggo-belly-cuteness". I'm going to get real with you all for a moment here - I plan on having a baby at some point in my life. And I'm pretty aware that pregnancy probably isn't going to be very fun for me, because I'm just that kind of person. I don't deal well with change, I get anxious when my body does things I don't understand, and I'm pretty fucked up about going to the doctor. So the thought of not having something cute to dress up in, even if I only wear it on my couch, is heart breaking. I have a feeling I'm not the only person feeling that way, too.

So this one is for a little glimmer of hope for current (or future) pregnant babes. Your plus size maternity clothing options don't have to be bleak! If you need more support, make sure you check out PlusSizeBirth.com!  Peace and love to all of you on your beautiful journey!

Pink Blush Maternity

What a breath of fresh fat hippy air. This line is the stuff my little fat pregnant dreams are made of. Pink Blush's Maternity section has grown a lot over the last few years! There are enough cute pieces to make you think dressing you and your little baby bump won't be a nightmare. The prices are reasonable too!!! Sizes up to 3X, prices around $40

Ulla Popken

Ulla Popken has created a line of beautiful belly-bending clothes that are made for bellies that expand whether you're carrying a kiddo or not. The Bellieva line prides itself on socially conscious environmental practices and sustainability. We think this line is the future of adaptable clothing, and we are all in! Prices start around $40 and sizes go to 34.

Universal Standard

Per Universal Standard's site "This is not maternity clothing. It's a curated collection of clothing... that you can wear anytime - when you're pregnant, and when you're not." I kind of love that. it's smart to create clothes that work for pregnancy but can be enjoyed afterward too, right? This line starts around $50 and has an INCREDIBLE size range up to size 40! Remember, many of these styles are created for varying body sizes, and while they may not be maternity styles, they still work for pregnant people!

Good American Jeans

I'm super impressed with Good American's jean selection for maternity. They have jeans that are great for your first and second trimester AND denim that works when you're in the home stretch. These beautifully made jeans will set you back a bit at $150, but they're a great investment especially if you're planning on having a few more *wink wink*

Motherhood Maternity

This is the store that I think most people know about. Carrying up to sizes 3X, with prices around $40, this shop has been a maternity staple for many parents. Because they cater to maternity they are on trend and make really comfortable pieces that just make sense.

Torrid Maternity

Every fat babe's favorite cotton leggings now come in a maternity version! Torrid doesn't have many maternity options - but I LIVE in torrid leggings and I feel like I would be really letting everyone down if I didn't tell you that they come in maternity sizing. Torrid also carries a couple maternity bra options. Hopefully they'll expand this selection in the future!

Maurices

Maurices offers a versatile and affordable selection of plus-size maternity clothing that doesn’t compromise on style or comfort. While their plus size collection includes plenty of bump-friendly options like flowy tops and dresses, they also carry a select number of plus size maternity-specific basics.

Oh Mama! from Walmart

This line is cute times 10! And because it's from Walmart, you can count on it being affordable too! The Oh Mama! line goes up to 3x and has SO many plus size maternity options!

Yours Clothing

Yours clothing is a great UK brand that's been honoring our curves with cute affordable clothes. Lucky you, they have plus size options as well! Keep in mind, the shipping takes a little longer on this site! Prices start at $15, sizes go to a US 30.

If you have any suggestions for other places please let me know in the comments!

  1. ***Tears*** I saw some hits to my website from yours and clicked to read why. Wow! Thank you. I'm truly crying a bit right now knowing that so many people care about my family and appreciate my work. This means more to me than any financial contribution. You're a wonderful person. XO

    1. <3 You do amazing things for our community and we're all here to support one another. Take care of yourself and your family, you guys are awesome and deserve all the love and support in the world <3

  2. Thank you so much for this! Fat and pregnant here, and desperate for something to make this final stretch (4-6 weeks) a little more bearable. I've made do so far with pants from Motherhood and my pre-pregnancy 2x men's shirts from Target (because that's where the cool character tees are), but I am about to pass beyond what those shirts can handle. The PinkBlush stuff looks adorable -- I'm so excited to shop now!

    1. i'm so in love with pink blush's maternity line! I hope you find something you love! Best of luck with the new babe <3

  3. Thanks for this list! I'm really in need of stuff... I would love to put on a dress, it's been years! This was so helpful and you're amazing. Following on Instagram and YouTube 😀

  4. If ever you find a place that sells dresses dressy enough for a shower with the country club crowd, but not full on formal, charge $1 a head to disclose the site; you'll be RICH, because you'll be the only one to know about it. I have so much fat pregnant rage right now ... it's not as cute as it sounds.

      1. I know this post was quite some time ago, but pink blush has an entire section set aside just for plus size formal gown in maternity. Not just formal, but they also have a photoshoot wardrobe section as well as baby shower dress section!

    1. I can't even imagine how hard it must be to be pregnant and have such limited options, I'm so sorry. I promise any time I hear about stores carrying maternity over 3x I will be ALL OVER IT <3

      1. I just ordered from Yours Clothing. I wear a 28 pants and 4x shirt. I ordered the size 28/30 option and they fit perfectly! I'm so so so happy that I found this blog and that Yours Clothing was mentioned. It is a UK based site, so make sure you click the USA conversion button at the top. Shipping takes a while, too. Prices were pretty reasonable! Good luck and happy shopping!!

        1. How long did the shipping take? I ordered three weeks ago from yours clothing I still haven't received my order. Curious on the time frame

  5. THANK YOU! I almost cried when I read through this and went onto the Pink Blush site. I'm pregnant with my second child and the first time around was torture trying to find maternity clothes that fit me. I felt horrible about myself and spent most of my pregnancy hiding out at home because I had 2 pairs of giant yoga pants and oversized t-shirts that fit my huge belly, but weren't good for going out anywhere. I'm not only a 3x in size, but I'm almost 6ft, so clothes shopping in general sucks, let alone maternity shopping. I just ordered a cute dress, jeans and a sweater and I'm so excited. Your other recommendations are on my list to check out too. Thank you so much!

  6. Hi Girls! Not actually officially "maternity" plus size clothing but the best options I've found as a size 28/30 pregnant have been:
    1. Making It Big: goes up to 8x & many tunics that work for maternity wear
    2. Woman Within: they also have some flowing a line tops that work for maternity
    3. BBW Boutique: they have some very spacious clothing options with loose designs that work for maternity wear
    4. Sealed With A Kiss: they have a super stretchy wide waistband fold over maxi skirt, & a palazzo pants with the same waistband up to a 6x which works as maternity wear, as well as their Classic Maxi Dress works well, it's pleated and very full around.

I wish Torrid or Lane Bryant or... Anyone (!) would design & sell a basic maternity plus size line available for over 3x!!! I'd be thrilled with: 1. Pants in black, 2. maxi skirt in black, 3. a few simple tops, 4. A jacket. Anything else would be bonus. It's really, really needed!!

  7. I would add Belevations. They make great support undergarments and panties for pregnancy. And with PinkBlush check back often. They're stock changes weekly and they have limited quantities.

  8. Your site has been a god send! I'm on pregnancy #4 and after living in the same maternity clothes for the past three I really need some new clothes. Our stores around here aren't very plus size friendly so I've been dreading having to shop. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!

  9. I just found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago and my first thought was "well damn, as if finding clothes wasn't hard enough!" Thank you SO SUPER MUCH for this!

  10. I was excited about Pink Blush and placed an order for a few dresses. None were actually maternity, though that's how they were labeled. All three were also very poor quality. So sad! Just wanted to share a warning about ordering from there.

I'm size 24/26 and have found the easiest clothes to be stretchy maxi skirts paired with ruched side tops and tanks, along with a couple open front cardis. I can mix and match and everything grows with me. Motherhood Maternity's maxi's are super stretchy and the 3x could easily work for up to size 30/32!

  11. Thank you for this list! I am a little over halfway through my pregnancy and, like you're not supposed to say, am hating virtually every moment of it. I have had a terrible time finding clothing! Particularly, for work. I don't even want to go out much because I feel like I don't have anything I can wear. I am right on the border between regular misses and plus size, so up until now I have been able to get away with buying mostly misses, but am so stressed about what is up ahead. I will say, of the mainstream department stores, JCPenney has had the most plus sized options that don't just look like sacks. However, they're sizes are kind of limited because they tend to only have one size left in stock with each item (at least by time I have looked). Thanks again.

  12. Not specifically maternity, but many are empire waisted, and all styles can be customized to your measurements. eShakti.com
Super cute stuff, and I think they go up to a 30, but double check me on that!

  13. I'm 13 weeks, size 28/30, and 4x shirt. This site is a goldmine. Thank you! I am about to start teaching in a couple of weeks and I have one pair of stretchy gauchos that Cato discontinued.... you're a lifesaver!

  14. Not a single site linked had shorts in a 1x (there were pajama shorts. I need something to wear to work) 🙁

  15. Thank you so much for this post! I was really struggling to find plus sized maternity clothes I could wear to work. I am in LOVE with Yours Clothing. What great quality and they are so comfortable! I have already received two orders from them. One tip - if you live in the US and are used to getting orders right away, pay extra for shipping. Both times I have paid the $5.00 shipping and it takes almost three weeks for the order to arrive. Thank you again!

  16. OK does anyone know where I can get a plus sized maternity coat and not spend a fortune? I had one in my cart on old navy this weekend and by the time I went to buy it wasn't available... GRRRR.

  17. This has been extremely helpful, unfortunately, I was 3x pre pregnancy and an't find underwear at all.
If there is any other link, that is not here, I would appreciate it.
But really i am saying thank you as I was able to order some clothes
