This post was made in collaboration with JCPenney
Most of you know that I do nearly all of my shopping online, so when I heard that JCPenney was carrying a new plus size line in stores well… I made a very real attempt at running, just to go check it out.
I had forgotten how fun it is to actually go into a store and touch and feel the pieces that you are looking at. I got to take my partner and ask what he thought of things, we got to get excited about the cute stuff together, and I got to leave a store with things that I loved. I don’t want that experience to be something that plus size people don’t get to have. I didn’t realize how much I had resigned myself to online shopping, and how much I craved the in-store experience until now!
Of course, Nate and I documented the whole thing. Because, what is shopping if you don’t have a camera, right? Our local JCPenney is small, but has a great plus size section. The entire store is slowly getting renovated and the displays look chic and cool. I found an amazing pencil skirt that is true to my new commitment to adding more color into my wardrobe. It’s soft, which surprised me. If I had seen this skirt online I don’t know that I would have expected it to be soft and comfy, but it is. And because I got to actually touch it and try it on, it now has a happy new home in my closet!
You can check out me and Nate’s JCPenney adventure and the #HereIAm campaign featuring some bad ass body positive babes, down below. The #HereIAm campaign is a call to start valuing people for who they are and to embrace the differences in our bodies. I think you’re going to like it!

Hello Corissa!
I think it is great that JCPenney have added a new plus size line. Although I'm not exactly plus size I still can appreciate a larger variety for plus size women. I too find it difficult to find my size at times so I know the struggle.
Which is why I only shop off line because I need to try it on to see how it fit. I can understand your excitement of finding clothes that fit it sure beats the disappointment of not finding your size. I love your body positive website and I look forward to reading more of your articles.
Thanks, Francesca
