Summer has just begun but we are already seeing record-breaking temperatures, and I am FEELING IT y’all. I love being outside tending to my garden or lounging out on my front porch, so finding ways to stay cool has become a cornerstone of my survival. That’s exactly why I wanted to round up some hot weather tips for plus size bodies—because staying comfortable and cool in the heat shouldn’t feel impossible.

From gadgets that save the day, to clothes that work with your body, to skincare that respects your sweat, this list is all about helping you stay cool, comfortable, and feeling your best—no shrinking required.

Temperature Control

I’m simply unwilling to go outside without some form of a fan at this point. From handheld fans to cooling towels and wearable cold packs, this section is all about the best tools to help you regulate your body temperature on the go this summer.

Chafe Relief

Chub rub is a universal fat babe experience, and it can ruin an otherwise perfect day. Luckily, there are SO MANY magical balms, creams, and shorts out there that protect your skin from friction and the pain that comes with it.

Stay Hydrated

Hot weather tip #1: drink water. Hot weather tip #2: drink more water. Given that we are living in a reusable cup renaissance, it has never been easier to find a cup that will keep your water cold for hours. There are also tons of ways to make drinking water feel more fun—whether it’s adding flavored electrolyte packs, carrying your water bottle in a cute bag, or even downloading a self-care app that helps you stay on track (I’m so serious, y’all, I love this bird app).

SPF Must-Haves

Repeat after me: SUNSCREEN IS SELF CARE. Your fat skin is stunning and gorgeous and deserves protection. I personally get very overwhelmed when confronted with an aisle of sunscreen options, so I have narrowed this section down to include a variety of highly reviewed sunscreens to use all year long!

Get Shady

Sometimes the best hot weather tip is to avoid direct sunlight altogether. Grab a big sun hat, carry a UV umbrella, or bring a pop-up tent to the function. There is nothing embarrassing about protecting your sanity and skin while enjoying the beauty of nature.

Skin + Hair

Looking for sweat-friendly makeup and barrier-protecting skincare that holds up when it’s 90+ degrees out? This section is for you. These are some of the most popular products that will keep your sweat and oil at bay and make you feel good in your skin.

Summer should be about joy, not discomfort. These hot weather tips aren’t about shrinking yourself or hiding out inside all the time—they’re about showing up fully as you are, heat and all. Click here to check out my a curated LTK Product Set of all these items and more!
