We all know the saying, “when it rains, it pours,” but I think it should be lengthened to, “when it rains, it pours, and I will be definitely be getting soaked because finding fat-friendly rain jackets is so difficult.” It’s a little wordy, but it’s my truth. We talked all about the woes of cold weather outerwear in our Where To Shop For Plus Size Outerwear post recently, but I know that many of you don’t live in super cold areas but definitely still get your fair share of rainfall—and that brings us here! We have scoured the internet for plus size rain jacket options designed with size inclusivity in mind. Let’s dive in!
ASOS | 3X-XL
ASOS delivers trendy and affordable rain jackets that are both stylish and are offered in plus sizes! I personally always like to filter to only show the ASOS Curve brand and/or filter body fit to Plus Size to make shopping for my body easier.
Ulla Popken | 34-12
Ulla Popken is a standout for functional rain jackets that cater to plus size bodies. I love that they have fun vibrant colors since most retailers stick to more muted tones. Whether you need something lightweight for travel or insulated for colder downpours, Ulla Popken has you covered.
Yours Clothing | 36-10
Yours Clothing is a UK based brand that offers plus-size rain jackets up to US size 36, making it easy to find the perfect fit to keep you nice and dry on rainy days. They have a selection of lightweight waterproof options as well as padded puffers and classic parkas—something for every climate!
Columbia | 3X-1X
Columbia is a known for go-to brand for outdoorsy folks. They don’t have quite as expansive of a size range, with their jackets only going up to a size 3X (closest to a Torrid 22), but for those in that size range they look like a great option. A great hack is to look at their men’s options—they go up to a 6X! Their rain jackets are built for movement and performance and are built to last.
Woman Within | 34-10
Woman Within delivers one of the most inclusive, with some of their plus size rain jacket options going up to a 7X or 46/48. As someone who has absolutely sat down on a wet bench after it’s rained and was sad to find my rain jacket was not as long as I thought it was, I love how many longer lengths they offer for added coverage.
Athleta | 3X-XXS
Athleta prides themselves on combining athletic function with modern style in their rain jackets. Their extended sizes options are not quite as robust, but what they do have is high quality, and very functional, especially if you are often on the go.
LL Bean | 3X-1X
Much like Columbia, LL Bean is synonymous with outdoor reliability, and their plus-size rain jackets are no exception. They offer select options up to 3X or 24/26 that feature durable materials, weather-resistant finishes, and both trendy and classic designs.
