When it comes to my style I’m pretty passionate about a couple things. One of them is comfort. I refuse to stuff myself into shapewear just so I can look smooth in my leggings. I am fat. I am fat no matter how smoothed out my fat appears. Don’t get me wrong, I know plenty of people who wear shapewear every single day and love it. It makes them feel confident and beautiful and that is all that matters.

Everyone should get to feel confident and beautiful!!!! Even those of us who require maximum comfiness. For me having a day free from tugging on my shirt to pull it down, or not having to adjust my clothing every time I walk 10 steps, is what makes me feel most confident. I want to be able to exist in my body without constant adjustment. And I rely on my clothes to help me with that.

For far too long people have equated fatness with words like “sloppy”, “slob”, “lazy”… and for a very long time I let those words hold me back from being comfortable. But the thing is, there is no toll to pay for your fat body. We should not have to suck it in, dress it up, readjust, and walk with blisters just to be acceptable- to be considered beautiful.

Dressed up, or dressed down. Sucked in, or spread out. With the love and support of others, or fighting to love ourselves all on our own. This is our journey, and we don’t have to play by anyone else’s rules. That’s what fatgirlflow is all about.
